About

About Coursing:
I'm a locally competitive runner in Chicago. I target 5K's up to the Marathon. This is my "runner's weblog". I started the site in 2009, while I was training for my second Boston Marathon. At the time I was to breaking out as a runner. I've continued the blog as a way to document my training, workouts, and races.

What you read in here is my own personal information. I'm not trying to cater to anyone, aside from my own self. Feel free to browse, follow, and even ask questions or make comments.

About me:
I was born and raised in a suburb of Buffalo, NY. I'm the youngest of 5 children and the only boy. I graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1999 with a degree in Finance and Accounting. I moved to Chicago a few months later to purse a career in the financial markets and have been here ever since. Professionally, I'm a trader / portfolio manager and partner for a boutique hedge fund. I have a libertarian view, and I side with Austrian economics and free market capitalism. (OK, maybe that's more than you need?)

I am a hard worker and am very self accomplished. I love pushing myself. I have a classic case of "just one more time" syndrome. I grew up playing several sports, but aside from chasing a ball or complementing a work out at the gym, I never ran consistently until my early/mid 20s. I initially started running as a means to relieve stress from work and a way to stay fit. My first race was the 2003 Shamrock Shuffle. My first marathon was in 2004, at just under 3:40. It's been a complete snowball effect since then... I now have several sub-2:40 marathons and have averaged around 2,500 miles a year since I began this blog.
